Our Story

Founded in 2009, MZ Made is a B Corp Certified, women-owned and run brand that partners with indigenous Zapotec designers + artisans from Oaxaca, Mexico. Our work as a brand is to showcase their incredible artistry, nurture lasting relationships and to always embody the principles of fair trade and the slow fashion movement.

Sustainability

Sustainability

It is very important to us to leave a gentle footprint on the environment and to lessen our impact through every step of the production and shipping process. Our current goals are as follows:

By 2023, we are on track to producing our entire catalog with low-impact and natural dyes.

By 2024, our goal is to switch to a certified sustainable leather option. Whether that is plant based or a certified genuine leather is yet to be determined. Our main challenge is finidng a TRUE plant-based leather in Mexico. All current options rely heavily on supplementing plant fibers with plastics, which is ultimately worse for the environment than any other material.

By 2025, we plan on obtaining eco certifications for all of our fiber materials.
